Observation of 4 soil profiles in 2 different geologies (Lux. Sandstone and marl in Steinmergelkeuper) with 2 different pedogenesis according to landuse agriculture (VERTISOL, LUVISOLS) and forest (PLANOSOL, PODZOL).

The day excursion will take place on Friday 16th of September 2022 in the area of Mersch (Lux):
- 9h45 departure by minibus (or own car) from Clervaux train station
- Morning: visit Luvisol profile on Sandstone in arable land
- Noon – lunch break in Moesdorf
- Afternoon: 2 profiles in Moesdorf & 1 profile in Schrondweiler
- visit Podzol profile on Sandstone in deciduous forest
- visit ‘Pelosol’ profile (Haplic Vertisol) on marl in Steinmergelkeuper in arable land
- visit ‘Pelosol’ profile (Amphivertic Albic Planosol) on marl in Steinmergelkeuper in deciduous forest

We can accommodate a total of about 18 participants and priority will be given to SSSB members.
Participants are expected to travel themselves to Clervaux train station by 9h45 (not included in fee). Trains leave from Brussels-Midi (06:55), Leuven (07 :26), Ghent St-Pieters (06:23), Liège-Guillemins (08:07), Gembloux (07:32) – see https://www.b-europe.com to book your ticket.
